Round 1: Gomez wanted to use the jab early, but Font is answering with good kicks. The crowed favorite was using lots of front kicks to the body and pushing Gomez back. Font scored a quick takedown, but Gomez scrambled back to his feet. It was only for a moment, though, as Font forced him down again. Font tried to secure Gomez’s back, but let his opponent stand in the transition. The action went back to the center of the cage and saw Gomez return to the jab. Font started opening up with his own hands at this point, landing a nice combo before circling away. He stunned Gomez with a 1-2 and secured another brief takedown. Gomez stood, but was still stuck against the cage, but Font let go and went bak to the center of the Octagon. He backed Gomez to the fence and landed a very nice spinning elbow with about 20 seconds left in the round. The stanza ended with both men circling.
Round 2: Font looked for an early combo and was answered with a 1-2 from Gomez. Font then went back to the kicking game, landing several good kicks in a row as Gomez looked for a way to defend against them. Font unleashed a good combo with his hands and then returned to the kicking game. He was having a lot of success with his legs, especially to the body of Gomez. Half way through the round, Gomez’s offense was being limited to pumping his jab. Gomez finally got a little more aggressive and through a spinning attack that ended with a solid kick. Font, though, landed a hard left hand shortly thereafter that had Gomez rocked. Gomez got a desperate takedown to try and stop Font’s momentum, but he couldn’t keep it on the mat. Font returned to his feet and started lighting Gomez up! He trapped him against the cage and poured on the strikes, putting Gomez down and forcing Herb Dean to stop the fight!
