Conor McGregor has been rumoured to be facing Rafael dos Anjos UFC 197 however the UFC has yet to officially announce the contest however many sources close to the situation has confirmed the bout is set to take place.
However today, Brazilian outlet Globo announced that the UFC has not announced the fight due to McGregor’s money demands. This report was denied however by McGregor’s manager.
On Monday, McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy appeared on the MMA hour and gave him opinion on the RDA matchup.
“All I know just from listening to Conor is that he is fighting March 5,” Roddy said. “The opponent is up in the air. It could be dos Anjos. It could be whoever. But the thing is Conor is looking to fight March 5. Realistically, everybody wants to see Conor, so the opponent is not really important. I’m sure he’ll be fighting March 5. So stay tuned.” – MMA Fighting

McGregor (19-2 MMA) is undefeated in MMA since November 27, 2010 spanning an incredible 15 fights. During his UFC tenure, McGregor is 7-0 and in his last bout, won the UFC featherweight title knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds. During his 7 fight streak in the UFC, McGregor has earned 6 post fight ‘Performance of the Night’ awards.
Jeremy Botter, the reported who first reported the potential fight believes that it is lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos who is holding up the fight announcement.
