UFC President Dana White announced this evening that Michael Bisping will indeed headline UFC London against former UFC Middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.
— Dana White (@danawhite) December 24, 2015
UFC Fight Night 83 will be held on February 27, 2016 at the The O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. White also announced the whole event will air live on UFC Fight Pass.
Silva (33-6-1 MMA) is widely regarded at the greatest MMA fighter to ever live. The former middleweight king however has fallen on hard times as of late. Losing his title to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, Silva broke his leg in the rematch following a checked kicked by Weidman. In his most recent bout, Silva faced Nick Diaz at UFC 183. Originally a unanimous decision win for Silva; overturned after he tested positive for drostanolone and androsterone. Diaz also tested positive for marijuana metabolites.
Bisping (27-7 MMA) exchanged wins and losses in his career from December 2011 to November 2014, never winning two or losing two fights in a row. However following a submission loss to now middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, ‘The Count’ has earned two decision victories back to back. A unanimous decision win over CB Dolloway at UFC 186 was followed by a split decision win over the gritty Thales Leites at UFC Glasgow in July.
