Las Vegas, NV | Cody Pfister was a game opponent, but he couldn’t hold off rising star Sage Northcutt for long before being forced to tap to a guillotine choke.
UFC Fight Night 80 will be held on December 10, 2015 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sage Northcutt vs. Cody Pfister took place on the main card which aired on UFC Fight Pass.
Pfister wisely wasted no time looking for and scoring a takedown right as the fight got underway. Northcutt attempted to stall for a stand-up, but Pfister was able to pass to half-guard, which opened up his offense a bit. Northcutt regained full guard, but Pfister was finding a few more chances to land blows just before the stand-up. Northcutt immediately landed a takedown of his own and passed to half-guard. He landed several short elbows before mounting and looking to secure an arm-triangle choke. Northcutt gave up the hold in favor of landing blows from top position right before the bell sounded.
Northcutt chose to once again take the fight to the ground within 10 seconds of the beginning of the 2nd round. He moved to a front headlock and then latched onto a tight guillotine as Pfister looked to grab a leg. Pfister couldn’t hold out for long and was forced to submit shortly thereafter.
Northcutt coaxed the tap at 0:41 of Round 2 and moves to 2-0 in the promotion and 7-0 overall. Cody Pfister is now 12-5-1.
