Seoul, South Korea: Dongi Yang is back to his winning ways with the UFC, as he pounded out his opponent Jake Collier at Fight Night 79.
UFC Fight Night 79 was held on November 28, 2015 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. The event will be the first that the organization will have hosted in South Korea. Dongi Yang vs. Jake Collier took place on the preliminary portion of the card that aired on UFC Fight Pass.
Collier & Yang established a good pace early on, with the American challenger circling the outside and avoiding the early haymakers of Yang. Collier secured a takedown at the four minute mark, although Yang managed to stand up shortly afterwards. Absorbing an accidental eye poke, Yang backs away and the fight is briefly put on hold. Upon resumption, Yang opened very aggressively, attempting to catch Collier off guard. Reversing a takedown, Collier established side guard, delivering ground and pound. As the final seconds of the round wind down, Yang has dominant grappling position over Collier.
Yang’s aggression and grappling expertise paid big dividends in the second. After defending a temorary leg lock attack from Collier, Yangi managed to secure top position. Landing hard unanswered ground and pound, ref Herb Dean had no choice but to call the fight as a round two TKO for Yang.
With the impressive TKO, Dongi Yang moves up to 13-3 as Jake Collier drops to 9-3.
