Cathal Pendred announces his retirement from MMA

Irish UFC fighter Cathal Pendred has officially announced his retirement from MMA. Pendred made the announcement via his twitter page.

Pendred retires from MMA with a record of 17-4-1, losing his latest two bouts to John Howard at UFC 189 and most recently, he was stopped at 4:37 in the first round by Tom Breese in October at UFC Fight Night 76.

Pendred made his name under the Cage Warriors banner fighting around Europe and becoming the Cage Warriors Welterweight champion. Pendred then went onto become a cast member on the ninteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter where he made it to the tournament’s semifinals losing to eventual winner Eddie Gordon. His UFC record ended at 4 wins and 2 losses with wins over, Sean Spencer, Nico Musoke, David Bielkheden and Gasan Umalatov.
