Monterrey, Mexico – Efficient grappling mixed with heavy ground strikes made for a dominant performance by Poland’s Bartosz Fabinski tonight.
UFC Fight Night 78 was held on November 21, 2015 at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
Fabinski started quite strong, with an immediate takedown against the cage. The Poland native used his grappling to stifle any offense of Urbina. Although Fabinski briefly was reversed, takedowns combined with ground and pound dictated much of the first frame.
Fabinski shot early in the second round for a takedown; after reversing a kimura attempt he managed to regain ground control of his opponent. Urbina seemed unable to threaten from his back; the grappling of Fabinski simply being too strong. With one minute remaining, Fabinski is reversed and both men exchange strikes until ref Mario Yamasaki called time (cut on the eyelid of Urbina).
Overall, the ground dominance from Fabinski could not be challenged. Even though this strategy is well known by his opponents, the 29 year-old welterweight has yet to challenge an opponent in the UFC who can defend the takedown.
Winning his first two UFC appearances, Bartosz Fabinski rises to 13-2 as Hector Urbina falls to 17-9-1.
