Phoenix, AZ – In the first semifinal matchup of the night, Joao Zeferino will square off against Jorge Patino. Although Patino lost a decision to Islam Mamedov, an ACL injury to the victorious Russian left a vacant spot in the bracket.
Semi-final action begins with Zeferino throwing out leg kicks and trying to establish Patino’s gameplan. The lengthy Zeferino is throwing jabs and holding the center of the cage, not letting Patino set anything up. Patino charges forward with a quick one-two, but Zeferino shoots for the takedown and secures a leglock. After a brief struggle, Patino is forced to tap.
With his second heelhook of the night, Zeferino moves to 20-6 with Patino falling to 38-17-2.
