Thackerville, OK- Francisco France survived Ben Reiter’s grappling game long enough to put his own to effective use and secure a 2nd round rear naked choke.
Bellator 146: Kato vs. Manhoef will take place November 20, 2015 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The event will air live in prime time on Spike TV
After circling and exchanging a few strikes, Reiter pushed the fight to the cage, but was unable to do much before France broke away and took it back to the center. Reiter failed on a takedown attempt, but ended up pushing France against the cage again. He kept looking for the takedown, but France showed good defense and refused to go to the mat. Finally, France was able to find sometime to strike and began to back Reiter up. He over-committed to a punch, however, and Reiter was able to put him on the canvas with under a minute left in the frame. Reiter was then able to transition to half guard and briefly took back position.
France landed a good front kick shortly after the second stanza began, but found himself stuck against the cage in anther clinch. Reiter made a mistake allowing, French to take him down and secure a rear naked choke. Moments later, Reiter was forced to tap and relinquish his undefeated record.
Francisco France improves to 13-3-1 with the submission win while Reiter is now 16-1-1.
