UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm was held on November 15, 2015 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Joanna Jędrzejczyk vs. Valérie Létourneau took place on the main card which aired on PPV in the United States and BT Sport in the UK.

Jędrzejczyk opens the fight with jabs and left hooks. Briefly being taken down by Letourneau, the champion gets back to her feet and the fight resumes against the cage. With one minute thirty left into the round, Joanna lands an impressive front kick to the face of Valerie but she manages to endure. The bell rings with both women exchanging strikes in the middle of the Octagon.

Round two beings with a feeling out process between Jędrzejczyk and Letourneau. Half way through the frame, Joanna escapes a clinch attempt and starts to increase her aggression. Despite the pressure, Letourneau is firing back and landing on the champion. By the end of the second, the match-up is looking very even.

Exchanging clinch attempts, Jędrzejczyk and Letourneau are still very much feeling eachother out in the third round. At the three minute mark, Jędrzejczyk lands a good high kick and the pace begins to change. Joanna is landing more often and Letourneau is forced to circle away more often. With thirty seconds left, Joanna’s combinations now appear to be dictating the pace of the bout.

Into the championship rounds, Jędrzejczyk slowly took over the fight with a barrage of leg kicks and punching combinations. Unable to offer much offense or threaten the champion, Letourneau could not do enough to capture UFC gold. Simply put, Joanna’s superior striking once again reigned supreme.

Jedrzejczyk moves to an undefeated 11-0 with five straight victories in the UFC. Valerie Letourneau now drops to 8-4 as a professional.
