BAMMA 23 : Night of Champions will be held on 14 November 2015, at the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham. The event will host four BAMMA world title fights.
The main event is scheduled to take place in the lightweight division as Martin Stapleton will take on Gavin Sterrit for the vacant BAMMA world lightweight title.
The heavyweight title fight scheduled to take place on this card was scrapped in place of an interim BAMMA heavyweight title fight as champion Mark Godbeer withdrew from the event so now Tom Denham and Ruben Wolf will compete for the interim title.
Ruben Wolf (10-6 MMA) will finally make his eagerly anticipated BAMMA debut at BAMMA 23: Night of Champions. The fighter from Rosenhiem, Bavaria is coming off a big win against James ‘The Juggernaut’ Mulheron back in February of this year finishing him in 36 seconds of the third round.
Denham (7-7 MMA) was originally scheduled to face Lukasz Parobiec (11-4 MMA) on the same card but following Godbeer’s withdrawal, Denham has been promoted to an interim title fight. Denham is coming off a KO win over Ashley Pollard at BAMMA 21 also held at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
The co-main event features a BAMMA bantamweight world title fight between champion Ed Arthur and challenger Shay Walsh.
Since being crowned as the BAMMA Bantamweight Champion at BAMMA 20, Ed Arthur (6-0) has had no end of challengers and call outs. The Hemel Martial Arts Standout has made no bones about his willingness to take on all comers, and now faces the exceptionally dangerous Walsh. The undefeated Arthur has had nothing short of a meteoric rise in MMA and intends to continue on that journey at BAMMA 23.
Shay Walsh (13-3) put on a dominant display at BAMMA 21 in beating the previously undefeated Gaz Pilot in his Bantamweight debut to secure the first shot at Ed Arthur’s title. The fighter who splits his time between Lancaster MMA & Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket under Roger Huerta, will present Arthur with his biggest challenge yet. Walsh is determined that he will walk away the champion on the 14th November and that he will do everything in his power to make it happen. Get ready for fireworks, in what will be a fight that simply cannot be missed.
The fourth title fight on the card will feature flyweight champion Rany Saadeh vs. Shajidul Haque for the 125lb strap.
BAMMA Flyweight Champion Rany Saadeh (7-1) will look to defend his title for the first time against Shajidul Haque. Originally scheduled to face Chris Miah, Shajidul Haque stepped in when an injury hit Birmingham born Miah. Currently riding a four-fight win streak, Saadeh will look to continue that and end Haque’s rise in the Flyweight ranks.
The fifth and final title on the line will be the BAMMA light heavyweight title as Marcin Lazarz looks to defend his title against Paul Craig.
Defending his hard won title for the first time, Marcin ‘Bane’ Lazarz since BAMMA 20, Lazarz (8-1) gets his chance to cement his legacy in BAMMA history as he prepares to face off against the ‘Bearjew’. The Team Titan fighter has been preparing for his first challenger since the day that he took the title, and the heavy handed Champion will be looking to stamp his dominance over the division with this win.
Paul ‘Bearjew’ Craig (7-0) from the Scottish Hit Squad silenced his doubters at BAMMA 22, when he submitted fast rising prospect Karl Moore via Guillotine choke at the beginning of the second round. After weathering the storm from Moore in the first, he turned the bout around and took a victory which stunned the audience in the 3Arena. The submission specialist Craig immediately set his sights on the BAMMA Title, and was rewarded with a mutli fight contract and the chance to face “The Gentleman who currently is looking after my belt”.
