São Paulo, Brazil – Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera put on an entertaining stand-up battle that ended up going to Jimmie Rivera via split decision.

UFC Fight Night 77 was held on November 7, 2015 at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil. Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera took place on the preliminary portion of the card which aired on UFC Fight Pass.

Both men tested each others chin throughout the hard fought contest and the decision was in doubt going to the cards.  The pace was high for the entire match and neither man wanted to give in.

Munhoz had Rivera in trouble in Round 2, but couldn’t get the finish.  Rivera fought out of a guillotine attempt and was able to make it back to his feet, but Munhoz continued to land good shots and took the round.

Rivera came out strong in the final round, though, and that ended up being the difference in the fight.  The bouts last 5 minutes saw both men going hard and exchanging often as they looked for a finish.

Rivera is now 18-1 with a 17-fight win streak.  Munhoz drops to 11-2.
