St. Louis, Missouri – Michael Chandler outclassed David Rickels all night before brutally finishing him in the 2nd round.
Bellator 145: Vengeance will take place November 6, 2015 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The event will air live in prime time on Spike TV following the preliminary card on MMA Mad. Michael Chandler vs. David Rickels took place on the main card which aired live on Spike TV.
Rickels seemed to want to fight on the outside as the fight was in its early moments, but Chandler came in swinging and eventually threw Rickels to the mat. The Missouri native then looked to land elbows and short punches while in “The Caveman’s” guard and seemed to be overpowering his opponent. A failed submission attempt, however, allowed Rickels to escape back to a standing position and go back to circling on the outside. Chandler chose to take it back to the ground quickly, though, and finished the round looking for more ground and pound.
Round 2 started with some more striking, but once again ended up on the mat. Rickels was able to stand quicker, but only long enough to get smashed hard by Chandler’s punches. Chandler looked to latch onto a choke and finish the now bloodied Rickels, but couldn’t sink it in, so he returned to landing big blows. After another failed choke attempt, he eventually went back to the ground and pound and eventually finished Rickels via TKO at 3:05 of the 2nd round.
Chandler picked up his 2nd consecutive win after dropping 3 in a row to Bellator’s elite lightweights, and is now 14-4 overall. Rickels drops to 16-4 after his second loss to Michael Chandler.
