[Report] Rose Namajunas to Replace Injured Joanne Calderwood against Paige VanZant

Joanne Calderwood

It was announced yesterday by UFC veteran fighter and Team Alpha Male coach Justin Buchholz that Joanne Calderwood has suffered an undisclosed injury and is out of her headlining bout against Paige VanZant at UFC Fight Night 80 in Las Vegas. Buchholz confirmed that Rose Namajunas would replace ‘JoJo’ on the card.

UFC Fight Night 80 will held on December 10, 2015 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I’ve got a huge announcement. So I found out that Paige VanZant’s opponent… Calderwood’s out. She’s out. Paige, she’s fighting Rose Namajunas,” Buchholz said on Stud Show Radio. “That’s a main event slot, so it’s going to be an awesome fight.”

As of the article being published, nothing has been confirmed but stick with MMA Mad as we try and get confirmation of injury and bout change.

Namajunas (3-2 MMA) was the runner up on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter as she lost to Carla Esparza in the Finale. Rose submitted Alex Chambers, Joanne Calderwood and Randa Markos on the way to the finale. Namajunas returned to the octagon at UFC 192 against Angela Hill and earned a first round standing rear-naked choke submission.
