Dublin, Ireland: Krzysztof Jotko earned a tight split decision win over England’s Scott Askham in Dublin.
UFC Fight Night 76 was held on October 24, 2015 at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The whole event aired on UFC Fight Pass. Scott Askham vs. Krzysztof Jotko took place on the preliminary portion of the card.
Both guys start the fight very loose and light on their feet. This one could turn into a war. Jotko slips a big looping hook and counters with a takedown. Askham stays active with his hips, constantly working for sweeps, but Jotko maintains control. Finally, with a minute and a half left, Askham uses the fence to get back to his feet. He is quickly taken to the ground again where Askham threatens with an armbar attempt from the mat, but doesn’t do much with it. Jotko defends and finishes the round on top.

Even exchanges through the second, but Jotko is the one doing the most damage thus far. His face is battered and bloody, which could be affecting his breathing. You wouldn’t know it by his striking though. Askham just hit Jotko with a lighting fast front kick to the face. Jotko reacted by screaming at the crowd. This should be two for Jotko, but Askham is more than capable of finishing things in the third.

Dan Hardy stole the words right out of my mouth (or fingers). Both guys are looking for counter opportunities. A strategy that helps Jotko far more than Askham, who is behind on the score cards. An unsuccessful judo throw by Askham gives Jotko his back, but he escapes. Askham seems to be gunning for the finish, as both guys are covered in blood. And we’ve gone the distance. Great performance by Jotko, who may have lost the third, but should be the winner of this fight.

Official Result – Krzysztof Jotko def. Scott Askham via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29,28)
