Dublin, Ireland: Garreth McLellan lost the first round however he rebounded in brutal fashion finishing Bubba Bush with two seconds left in the fight.
UFC Fight Night 76 was held on October 24, 2015 at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The whole event aired on UFC Fight Pass. Bubba Bush vs. Garreth McLellan took place on the preliminary portion of the card.
Electric atmosphere from the opening bell? No surprise there. Ref bringing the opening prelim guys to the center of the Octagon like it was a title fight? A little surprised by that, but in this setting, it almost seems fitting.
And we’re off. After a brief striking exchange, Bush pushes McLellan against the cage and begins working his clinch game. Bush secures a pair of takedowns, but the second is more effective, as McLellan doesn’t have the wall to aid him. Bush takes advantage and quickly moves into side control, then north-south. McLellan uses a kimura attempt to get things back to the feet and immediately pulls guard with a guillotine attempt. Bush stays calm and pulls his head out, winning the first round with aggression.

This time, McLellan scores the big take down. Huge fence grab was missed by the ref, but nevertheless, McLellan lands in full mount. Bush hip escapes to half guard but stops there. He’s looking tired and eating a lot of short shots. McLellan briefly looks for the head and arm choke, but is on the wrong side of Bush, and returns to his ground-and-pound game. He postures up in the closing minute of the fight and really does some damage against the cage. Huge round for McLellan.

Early combo from Bush ignites the crowd. Another takedown from McLellan and we’re back in the same position as the second round. Despite the dominant round two from McLellan, I think this fight goes to the winner of this round and I have it even at the 2:30 mark. A double leg by McLellan leads to some more damaging ground-and-pound. And it’s over! McLellan looked outstanding in the second and third round, finally earning the TKO from half guard. To be honest, I feel like they let it go for too long, but nevertheless, McLellan secures his first UFC victory and gives the Irish fans a great opening bout.
