Mashantucket, Connecticut: Bruce Boyington convinced the judges that an active guard and the more aggressive striking is worth more than multiple takedowns and top position as he earns a split decision victory.
Rodrigo Almeida vs. Bruce Boyington took place on the preliminary card which aired live on MMA Mad. World Series of Fighting 24: Fitch vs. Okami was held on October 17, 2015 in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
Almeida gets an early takedown over Boyington however Boyington swiftly gets back to his feet and lands a takedown of his own. Almeida holds him in a headlock and stands, then scores another takedown midway through the round. Almeida stays on top, doing some damage with short ground-and-pound against Boyington at the base of the cage.

Almeida tries to repeat the beginning of round 1, working a takedown against the fence however Boyington lands a couple of quick shots as Almeida moves in and some nice elbows as Almeida works for the takedown against the cage. More hard elbows follow from Boyington clearly hurting Almeida enough to force the Brazilian to take the first to the ground again. Boyington works his way back to his feet as Almeida lands a couple of leg kicks but eats a few hard shots from Boyington in order to get inside and close the round with another takedown.

Boyington is the aggressor at the early part of round three, clearly looking the fresher of the two as Almeida starts to tire. Boyington lands a nice straight punche and a few body kicks as Almeida tries to clinch up and slow the pace. Midway through the round, Almeida does clinch and puts Boyington on the fence, but Boyington breaks and lands a clean shot in doing so. Another takedown attempt is successful for Almeida however Boyington is super busy off his back landing elbows and punches as Almeida looks to stall on top. With around a minute left, Boyington gets back on his feet and connects with a few good punches, but Almeida soon has him back on the mat. Boyington tries a kimura from underneath, grimacing and trying to force the submission, but Almeida frees the arm just before time runs out.

With this win, Boyington moves to 11-8 MMA as Almedia drops to 12-3 MMA.
