As per UFC Tonight, two exciting fights have been added to a loaded UFC Orlando card on December 19th.
It looks like it’s going to be another jam-packed UFC on FOX card, as they’ve added a lightweight matchup between Charles Oliviera and Myles Jury, as well as a strawweight bout between Randa Markos and Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
We last saw Charles Oliviera in August, when he took on Max Holloway in the main event slot of UFC Saskatoon. Unfortunately, the fight was ended prematurely, when a lingering neck injury manifested itself, leading to a first round stoppage in what promised to be a highly technical affair. Before that, Oliviera was on a four fight win streak that included three high-level submissions, with a triangle, an anaconda choke, and a guillotine.
On December 19th, he will be taking on the 15-1 Myles Jury. It will have been nearly one year since we’ve seen ‘Fury’, as he last took on Donald Cerrone at UFC 182 and was completely dominated throughout. You may recall a certain post-fight quote by Cowboy, where he made reference to some “F*ck You Kicks”.
This marked the only loss of the 26 year’s old’s career, as he was riding a fifteen fight win streak – six inside the Octagon – prior to his last bout.
The card will also feature the return of Randa Markos, a former TUF competitor who holds a 1-1 record under the UFC banner. Her promotional debut ended in a ‘Fight of the Night’ worthy, split decision with Jessica Penne. Although she may have come out on the wrong end of the outcome, she quickly cemented herself as one of the most exciting fighters in the division. In April, she bounced back with her first UFC victory over fellow TUF competitor and SBG Ireland team member, Aisling Daly.
Her UFC Orlando opponent will be the 7-0 Polish prospect, Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The 29 year old strawweight has one knockout and two submissions to her name and will be making her UFC debut on December 19th.
Both of these matchups have the potential to steal the show, but it won’t be easy. The card already features a Lightweight Championship match between Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone, a heavyweight bout between Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem, the return of Nate Diaz against Michael Johnson, and more.
One week after what is likely the biggest fight of the year in Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor, we will have another stacked card coming our way.
