Hidalgo, Texas – Following a frenetic, back-and-forth contest that saw both featherweights have their shining moments, Emmanuel Sanchez (11-2) grinded out a split decision (30-27, 27-30, 29-28) victory against Henry Corrales (12-2) on Friday night in Hidalgo, Texas.
There were multiple instances in the fight where Corrales seemed close to tapping, but following some nifty escapes, the former King of the Cage champion managed to escape and keep the contest close on the feet.
Bellator 143 took place on September 25, 2015 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.
Emmanuel Sanchez vs. Henry Corrales took place on the main card which aired on Spike TV.
Sanchez cuts Corrales above the eye with an elbow. The round ends with Sanchez on top, but only because Corrales pulled guard with a flying triangle. It’s tough to score a round like this, but I’ll give it to Corrales for the submission attempt. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the judges give it to Sanchez for damage.
10-9 Henry Corrales
Great striking from Corrales, but a rushed attempt to take the back led to an easy takedown for Sanchez. More stand up exchanges that Sanchez MAY have gotten the best of, but the round ends with Corrales on Sanchez’s back. Some confusion with the clock following the time out due to headbutt, but I give the round to Corrales. Still, judges may have it two to one in favor of Sanchez.
10-9 Henry Corrales (20-18 Corrales)
Even round three for both fighters. I can almost guarentee you that nobody will see it how I did. But I have to stick with my guns on this one. I score that final round as a draw and give it to Corrales 30-28.
10-10 Draw (30-28 Corrales)
