Tom Duquesnoy breaks right hand in first round of title defence on Saturday night

Many media members and fans alike were slightly mystified when Buddae Johnson, the BAMMA MC read ‘And still the BAMMA World Featherweight champion, Tom ‘FireKid’ Duquesnoy’ on Saturday night. MMA Mad scored the contest a clear 29-28 to challenger Brendan Loughnane.

However on Tuesday evening, the champion announced on twitter that he broke his right hand during the first round of the main event in Dublin, Ireland and provided photographic evidence of the injury.

Loughnane controlled substantial parts of all three rounds and flexed his superiority in the standup, rattling the champion with punches and kicks to the body and head before cutting him in the second round. Duquesnoy secured a takedown in the second round, doing enough to deserve the nod in the eyes of two of the three judges.
