It appears that Josh Thomson has found a new home in Bellator. After dropping 3 straight fights in the UFC to some of the best competition in the world, the longtime competitor returned to his hometown and finished and outmatched Bronzoulis early in the third round.
Bronzoulis (18-9-1) had some minor success while standing early in the bout, but Thomson quickly took advantage of a gap in skill on the mat and never gave it up. After nearly mounting Bronzoulis in the opening round, Thomson would achieve the position late in the second, and then get and immediate take down to start out the final round.
Shortly thereafter, Bronzoulis was tapping to an arm triangle choke. The finish came 0:39 in round 3 and marks the first victory for Thomson (21-8) under the Bellator banner, but not his first time participating on a Dynamite card. He fought Tatsuya Kawajiri in a Japanese version of Dynamite nearly 5 years ago in 2010.
