Dublin, Ireland – Alan Philpott missed weight on Friday, however was able to gather himself to win a split decision over rising star Regis Sugden.
BAMMA 22 took place today (Saturday 19th September) at the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. It is the first event that BAMMA has held in Ireland.
Regis Sugden Vs. Alan Philpott took part on the main card which aired on Spike TV UK.
Very tentative start to the first round by both fighters. Regis starting to throw some heavy leg kicks but Philpott returns with a body shot of his own. Still not much action with both fighters looking unsure of when to engage. Tough round to score.

Philpott starts with a leg kick early followed by a left hook which catches Sugden. Sugden gets his legs taken from under him by Philpott however Sugden gets up and lands a beautiful hook which knocks Philpott to the canvas. Philpott recovers and the fight is back to the feet. Sugden lands another right huge right hand that wobbles Philpott again.

Sugden starts the third round with a beautiful front kick to the face of Philpott, both fighters trade leg kicks but Sudgen looks to have more pop in his shots during this final frame. Philpott lands a huge takedown in the third, possibly showing his experience in this high profile fight. Back to the feet with 50 seconds remaining, Philpott with another takedown attempt, this time Sugden stuffs it.
