Gunnar Nelson vs. Demian Maia added to UFC 194

UFC 194 gets deeper and deeper by the second. The UFC announced today that Gunnar Nelson vs. Demain Maia has been booked for the UFC 194 mega card.

UFC 194 will be held on December 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event features a feathweight unification bout between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Conor McGregor.

Nelson (14-1-1 MMA) is currently 5-1 under the ZUFFA banner. Winning his first four fights including two ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses, Nelson was upset by America wrestler Rick Story in the main event of UFC Fight Night 53, dropping a split decision in Stockholm, Sweden. Nelson rebounded nicely though at UFC 189, submitting Brandon Thatch in the first round back in July to get his UFC career back on track.

Maia (21-6 MMA) is currently riding an impressive three fight winning streak in the welterweight division. Two unanimous deicison wins over Alexander Yakovlev and Ryan LaFlare were topped by a jiu jitsu clinic over the streaking Neil Magny, finishing Magny in the second round and earning a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus at UFC 190.
