UFC Fight Night 60 will be held on February 14, 2015 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado
The event will be the third that the UFC has hosted at the venue.
A welterweight bout between Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine was expected to serve as the event headliner. However, on January 1, the UFC announced that Saffiedine had pulled out of the bout, citing a groin injury he sustained in training. On January 13, Brown was pulled from the event in favor of a matchup with former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 185.
Subsequently, a welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Brandon Thatch was promoted to the main event. In turn, Thompson pulled out of the fight on January 30, citing a rib injury. After UFC 183, it was announced that former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson agreed to step up as a replacement.
Henderson (21-5 MMA) will enter the main event bout on the back of his first back to back losses in his MMA career. Suffering his first KO loss of his career at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night Tulsa late last year was followed by a unanimous decision loss to Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in Boston in January. Thatch (11-1 MMA) has finished both of his UFC bouts inside the first round. In his UFC debut he earned ‘Knockout of the Night’ as he finished Justin Edwards in Indianapolis. This was followed up with a submission due to strikes victory over Paulo Thiago in Brazil late last year.
The co-main event features a featherweight contest between Max Holloway and Cole Miller. Holloway (11-3 MMA) has been on a tear inside the octagon since his lost to future UFC featherweight title contender Conor McGregor. Since that bout, Holloway has gone 4-0 under the ZUFFA banner, finishing all those victories inside the distance and earning two post fight bonus awards. Miller (21-8 MMA) has been out of action for over a year. We last saw Miller compete inside the octagon in a ‘Submission of the Night’ performance win over Sam Sicilia back in January 2014.
