UFC 183: Predictions

UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz will be held on January 31, 2015 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event features two fighters who have been on the sidelines of the sport for over a year in Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz. Anderson Silva, widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time returns to the ‘scene of the crime’ after he suffered a horrific leg break against UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December 2014 in the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Diaz on the other hand has been out for over a year and a half with personal issues against the UFC. After his back to back loses to Carlos Condit (for the interim welterweight title) and Georges St. Pierre (for the welterweight title), Diaz has suggested that he would only return to the UFC if he was to get another crack at the 170lb title or he was matched up in a super fight with Anderson Silva. He gets his wish granted at UFC 183.

The co-main event features a key welterweight matchup as rising star Kelvin Gastelum takes on KO artist Tyron Woodley.

On the preliminary card, Miesha Tate takes on Sara McMann in a big women’s 135 match-up, while John Lineker and Ian McCall compete for a possible flyweight title shot.
